8th Session 2023

The 8th session of the Haryana History Congress was held on November 25-26, 2023 in collaboration with the Department of History and Archaeology, Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat, Haryana.

The Chief Guest of this Session Prof. Raghuvendra Tanwar, Padma Shri Awardee and Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi delivered his keynote address on “Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Arya Samaj, and its Importance in the Development of the Indian Renaissance”. The Guest of Honour of this session was Prof. Sudesh, Vice-Chancellor, BPSMV, Khanpur Kalan.

The General President of this session was Dr. Ghasi Ram Malik, retired from Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari (Haryana), and his topic was “The History of Anti-Colonial Struggle in the Rural Areas of Western Uttar Pradesh (1929-1946)”. The Ancient Sectional President was Prof. Bhagat Singh, Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, and his topic was on “The Study of Society and Culture with the help of Ancient Coins found in Modern Haryana,” the Medieval Sectional President was Dr. Manisha Chaudhary, Associate Professor of Medieval Indian History, Department of History, University of Delhi, Delhi, her topic was “Ecology, Landscape, and Blitz: An Insight into Medieval Haryana”, and the Modern Sectional President was Prof. Manju Malhotra, formerly Department of History, USOL, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and her topic was on “The Role of Haryanvi Women in the National Movement”.

The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. B.R. Mani, Director General, National Museum, New Delhi on “Importance of Archaeology and Archaeological sites in Haryana”. He also gave a special lecture on Ayodhya. In this session, more than 100 papers were presented and twenty-seven papers were accepted for publication.
